Plastic Waste Solution for Beauty Industry
Working with [Re] Waste has helped hair salons and other businesses in the beauty industry significantly reduce the amount of waste they produce that ends up in landfills. It’s estimated that the global beauty industry produces 120 billion units of packages every year, and an estimated 909 million units of those plastic packaging units are produced by the Canadian beauty industry.
Through [Re] Waste’s work with the beauty industry, we estimate that over a million pounds of plastic waste is produced by hair salons in Alberta every year. We have worked closely with many Albertan hair salons to arrange plastic collection and the manufacturing of new products for the salons.
We’re able to develop custom products for these salons, such as mixing bowls, combs, hair paddles, picks, clips, and much more! We use the plastic waste collected from hair salons to create reusable plastic products out of the recycled plastic, significantly reducing the environmental impact of these hair salons.
